Pete has done some fantastic work supporting our students on their podcasting journey. He brings bags of industry knowledge and skills, but shares this with students in a way which they can easily understand. He guides students through the whole process of making a podcast from conception to distribution, coaching them on delivery and helping them focus in on what it is they have to offer. His practical insights into monetisation, marketing and audience building shine a light on the path from hobbyist to professional. An incredibly useful experience!
"Pete was really inspiring. I've been interested in podcasting for ages, but didn't have a clue how to put it together and get it out there. By the end of the day I felt like I could do it all!"
- George Edwards, journalism student
"Pete's 1:1 coaching was so useful. I never really felt confident enough to get in front of a microphone before, but with his encouragement I actually ended up recording something I felt proud of! It was a great day."
- Joe Lawson, journalism student
Pete Allen has working with students at Nottingham college for five years now. In that time he has helped them develop broadcast skills, content ideas, encouraged them to build and develop their presentation skills and helped them understand what is needed to work as a professional in the creative industries.
His sessions are always incredibly well structured and he combines a sharp eye for detail, exemplar material and humour which the students can relate to.
The feedback is always incredibly positive and more often than not students have a renewed sense of excitement about the work they are going to undertake.
